This course is designed for you as an engineering, technical, operations, maintenance or inspection operative working within the oil and gas production, chemical process, power generation, utilities, commercial works (vendor) inspection organisation, classification society or insurance company.

The competence requirement for the Plant Inspector is to have knowledge of the following:

  • Codes and standards commonly used by the industry

  • Equipment types (pressure vessels, process piping, aboveground storage tanks, and pressure relief devices) and basic materials

  • Purpose of a Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) and inspection plan

  • Inspection techniques and principles, including Non-intrusive inspection (NII)

  • Common damage and degradation mechanisms

  • Detection and evaluation of imperfections by means of Non-destructive examination (NDE)

  • Basic code calculations (Corrosion rate, remaining life, MAWP and maximum fill height)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

If you wish to attend the CSWIP Plant Inspection training course, you must submit a copy of your CV for review.  Ideally, you would hold qualifications in NDE and weld inspection, however, some flexibility regarding entry requirements can be offered to prospective students who hold academic qualifications and differing approvals/experience.    

Examination format
The examination is a combination of closed-book and open-book questions at Plant Inspector level consisting of two papers:

  • 100 multiple choice questions (closed book)

  • 25 multiple choice questions (open book)

When you have booked your online course, you will receive an email notification with your login details. You will then have 60 days to complete your distance-learning course.

Once you have completed the eLearning course, please contact TES Canada Training Centre to book your examination.
